Native of the mediterranean, Rosemary makes a fantastic garden herb, it is a perennial hardy evergreen with narrow, shiny dark green leaves that are silver underneath. The aroma is powerful and energising, with pretty pale blue flowers loved by bees and butterflies.
Sow: February (indoor), March (outdoors). Sow in good organic seed compost at 21°C. Germination can be slow and erratic. When seedlings are a few cm tall plant into free draining soil 8cm pots. Grow on until 8cm tall and then plant out.
Grow: Native to the Mediterranean, Rosemary prefers full sun and a well drained soil and it also very cold tolerant. Plant out from May when 8cm high.
Harvest: All year round once established.
